Designer Boot Camp
The week-long seminar has been developed to train a freshman designer, plan reviewers and those desiring additional class time in layout and design of fire sprinkler system drawings. The seminar offers a comprehensive, practical approach to design based upon NFPA 13, 2013 edition, and is taught by one of the most highly-rated and sought-after design instructors, Ray Vance. Ray has over 30 years' experience in the industry, is a NICET IV, owner of Fire Design Concepts and a national instructor. This condensed course requires the student perform independent study of NFPA 13 in order to be an effective designer upon returning to work.
Areas of study include spacing, location and positioning of sprinklers; addressing obstruction rules for individual sprinkler types; basic design and layout; basic hydraulic calculation process; overview of standpipes; fire pump systems and underground fireline. At completion the student should be able to produce reasonably accurate working shop drawings.
Students must bring their copy of NFPA13, 2013 ed.
